Life’s hard | We need release | We need escapism | We need art

‘Bucked-Up’ is derived from the colloquial term ‘Buck-Ray-Docks’, which in local parlance means dressed to kill.

Bucked-Up Men’s BlogZine is a reaction to men’s internal struggles amid society’s stereotypical knee-jerk response to domestic violence.

Modern masculinity, as dictated by society, boxes in the T&T male in a straightjacket of conventional ‘machoness’. To put it bluntly, many men are pushed into playing a role from someone else’s script, often resulting in a maelstrom of emotional turmoil that men are forced to endure in silence.

In addition to its stated core mission, the blogzine will feature men’s fashion, art, and photo editorials. Additionally, the production team will use the blog to promote animal rights awareness and to raise much-needed funding for animal rescue missions. Not from soliciting donations, but through an ‘exchange-for-funding’ concept in which our team members will exchange their skills for animal welfare funding. For a comparatively modest fee–equivalent to the cost of a bag or two of animal chow or the cost of speying or neutering one animal–our capable team of volunteers will produce and promote high-quality ads on the site’s ‘BuckRayDocks’ cyber billboard. To get the ball rolling, we will provide free branding tips to SME owners. Details of our free and modestly priced services are provided on our website. Funding will also be sought from the sale of artwork via our Art page.

Our content is drawn from real life and will invariably contrast with society’s ideological theories. So, buckle up and

explore the secret lives and silent struggles of T&T’s men.

The publication remains in a perpetual state of ‘A work in progress’.

Warning! Not for the squeamish, prudes, and fanatics.

Be Kind to Animals.

BRAG—est. 2007—is a San Fernando-based non-profit online publication. Its motivation is to provide escapism from the drudgery of everyday life through art and to promote Animal Rights Awareness.

Living among people who impulsively torture and kill innocent animals can make you cynical. Standing up for animal rights in a “soulless” community can severely threaten one’s safety and well-being. It’s for this reason I’ve clambered out of retirement. To use art and creative endeavours to spread the simple message, “Be Kind To Animals.”

In 2022, BRAGzine.com and ZolaCaribe Visuals combined resources to launch a “Creative Revolution.”
